Marianne Steinmetzer designs beautiful tableware in porcelain. She started in 2004, by painting on glazed porcelain and creating tableware in a classic modern style. In 2010, she discover ceramics and started creating stamped photophores in porcelain paper. She then moved on to porcelain turned and cast pieces, and began researching relief and slip decorations.
She explains that she prefers porcelain as a means of expression, a material that attracts her with its texture and finesse, and which poses constant challenges due to its fragility and instability during firing. Her ceramics are primarily utilitarian, but remain one-off pieces or small series. Turned or cast in plaster molds, decorated with engobes or hand-painted, the bowls, vases, dishes or candleholders are then fired at high temperatures, giving them the watertightness and translucency characteristic of porcelain.
She has participated several time to The Luxembourgish Biennale ‘De Mains de Maîtres.
Marianne is a perfectionist, in search of detail and delicacy. she sublimates the earth.
