  -  ART & DESIGN NEWS   -  Nina Dorfer, Unique Textile Objects – craftsmanship, design and technique.
Nina Dorfer

Subtile is thrilled to welcome Nina Dorfer, an Austrian textile designer based in Paris.

While studying fashion design/knitting in Vienna, Nina Dorfer realized how many creative limitations exist from a technical perspective. She decided to acquire the technical skills needed to unlock the full creative and innovative potential of knitting.

She is an investigator, passionate about materials and colors. Through her creations and design, she aims to evoke feelings and explore the interaction between design and the human experience. She passionately integrates textiles into a new context in order to place their countless forms at the center of her creations.

Her textile design studio specializes in unique home goods and decorative items, rooted in the art of knitting. Each piece is meticulously hand-finished in her studio, transforming textiles into uniquely poetic, handcrafted sculptures that bring a memorable touch to your interior aesthetic.

While known for her striking ‘Triangle’ vase collection and the ‘The Lost Canvas’ mural – a triptych tapestry composed of alpaca, wool, silk, and cashmere – Nina’s work extends far beyond. She also creates bespoke textile designs for lampshades and offers custom interior textile solutions, bridging the gap between fine arts and crafts to elevate the quality of everyday objects, tailored to your specific vision.

Nina Dorfer, triangle vase

The Triangle Vase is a tactile sculpture — knitted in her studio using a 100% cotton cable yarn and meticulously mounted on a custom woodturned base. Its distinctive triangular form is shaped by inserted steel bands, balancing softness with structure.
