3-Hour Workshop by Serge Picard

Serge Picard is a photographer specializing in celebrity portraiture for the press (Libération, Le Monde, Géo, Philosophie Magazine, Télérama, Air France Magazine, Time, etc.). He is a member of the Agence VU’ and is represented by Galerie VU’ (Paris) and Subtile Galerie (Luxembourg) for his personal artistic research. His work has been featured in several books, notably Sponte Sua and Memories of Liquid Days (Ed. Filigranes). Serge Picard also regularly serves as a Masterclass instructor at the Rencontres d’Arles (International Photography Festival).
A portrait session is, first and foremost, an amazing encounter—but in a certain way, it is always a struggle.
Indeed, depending on the conditions—which are often discovered only at the moment of the shoot—such as the available light, the location, the limited time, and the subject themselves, and if you add the client’s specifications and the photographer’s own standards, a portrait session can become a true test of strength. The challenge is to overcome these difficulties to reach the pleasure of the photographic encounter inherent in portraiture.
Serge Picard, who creates portraits for the press and personal projects, will offer shooting exercises adapted to the participants. These will allow for a diversified approach based on different scenarios. The work will involve using both natural light and artificial lighting.
