Sa\u00fal Vel\u00e1zquez De Castro<\/strong>, a Spanish sculptor based in Roubaix, France, is captivating a new generation of collectors<\/strong> with his bronze sculptures. He honed his craft at the \u00c9cole des Arts et M\u00e9tiers in Valladolid, initially working with religious art in polychromed wood before specializing in the human form, celebrating its imperfections.<\/p>\n

Velasquez’s bronze sculptures possess a rare duality: a classical foundation infused with a distinctly contemporary energy<\/strong>. His pieces resonate with both strength and tenderness, particularly his portrayals of women. He respects and magnifies the female form, imbuing his sculptures with a powerful yet graceful essence. He is also celebrated for his animal sculptures, especially his depictions of horses and elephants.<\/p>\n

What truly sets Velasquez apart is his ability to channel his own vibrant energy into his work<\/strong>. Each sculpture seems to vibrate with life, capturing emotions and spontaneity in every curve and line.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Saul Velasquez actively participates in the art community, recently showcasing his work at Solid’ART in Lille and contributing a sculpture to an auction benefiting Secours Populaire. He oversees the entire process from the initial clay creation to the patina, including the casting which takes place at the Debelle Art Foundry, expertly managed by Ga\u00ebtan Debelle in Cambron-Saint-Vincent, \u00a0near Lens.<\/p>\n

Subtile Style proudly features several of his beautiful creations, including witnessing the captivating live creation of a sculpture. Velasquez’s immersive process captivated onlookers, transforming the space into a living art studio. After sharing a moment with the audience, he brought to life a delicate sculpture depicting a man and a woman intertwined \u2013 a truly memorable moment of shared emotion. He also sculpted for nearly 4 hours at the Nuit des Arts in Lille.<\/p>\n

His creative journey continues, from molding to casting and patina, alongside his stunning watercolors displayed in the gallery.<\/p>\n

The incredible performance of the artist, who came all the way from Roubaix for our 3C Art Dinner in march 2025, left us all in awe. With remarkable focus and unparalleled dexterity, he sculpted two intertwined bodies from a simple block of clay before our eyes. A true revelation for our 34 guests! And this was only the first step in a long process leading to a stunning bronze piece, cast by the artist himself.<\/p>\n
